Keeping as much of our skies dark at night is of great concern to us.  We want future generations to be able to enjoy the wonder of a truly dark night sky as much as possible, and that means we must strive to minimise light pollution and plan our exterior lighting work extremely carefully.  We understand the power of natural light in our projects and how to best harness it in order to minimise the amount and type of artificial/electric light required. 

There is a serious role for the international lighting design profession to play in ensuring our work respects the natural world.

Technological advances in architectural lighting equipment and lighting systems move very quickly. The changes we have seen over the past decade allow almost limitless possibilities of what we can now do with light, as a result creative thinking with regards to the application of light is a key part of every project we take on.

Throughout the design process, from forming a brief with the client to the final delivery of a project, we must strive to maintain an environmental awareness of every action we plan or take. Lighting is a notably visible energy source that in the wrong hands can be seen as wasteful and unnecessary. Poorly considered lighting design only further exacerbates this issue.

Consideration of the social, economic and environmental impacts of the schemes we design for our clients remains key to our lighting approach.

At the heart of our creative and technical thinking is our desire to carefully integrate light within a project, rather than it simply becoming an addition to the space. Where possible, we strive to minimise the impact of the equipment that provides the source of light in order to allow the user of the space to focus on and enjoy the atmosphere created.
